Some secrets can’t stay buried forever…

A dusty old journal led me to a forgotten town full of drowned love, sunken promises, and a stranger with familiar eyes and a rumbly voice that made my soul beg for more.

Drew’s dark eyes and warm, soft lips were like a memory of a place I’d never visited. They made me believe that our meeting had been set in the stars, as if Fate had schemed with Destiny and devised this elaborate plot to bring us together.

With each day I spent at Black Bird Resort, I learned more of Drew’s history. And the more I learned, the more I questioned.

Until I realized just how much the past could tear us apart.

I may not have been prepared for the journey fate had led me on, but no one was prepared for the reason why.

REVIEW..Check Swing by Carrie Aarons

Check Swing (Callahan Family Book 3) by Carrie Aarons
236 pages

five stars

To everybody in the family I am the troublemaker aka the black sheep. Considering my name is Sinclair and I am definitely Sin all the way it seems fitting. The thing is I am tired of having this personality and want more. It only took one night of seeing my life flash before me to see I am going down a trouble road in life. You see growing up as a Callahan brought big responsibilities and a reputation to uphold seeing my family is baseball royalty. All my life I had to be someone and not mess up but the rebel in me wanted to break free all the time and unfortunately got me in trouble many times. I never thought though that my last trouble joyride will bring me to Frankie Kade. To her I am just a nobody, an employee in my family’s baseball but in many ways she see’s something in me that I didn’t know existed. Unlike me she has to work for everything and makes me wonder how opposite we are yet I cannot stop wanting her. Somehow she has gotten under my skin and I know once she finds out who I really am she is going to see nothing but my troubled past. Can I be the man she needs me to be? Can I finally be the Callahan everybody knows is in me?

I have one rule and that is not to fraternize with the employees. I keep telling myself this but there is just something about Sinclair Callahan that gets me. For the first time I am in a position that shows my real talent in my career and working with the Callahans is like working with royalty. I have worked hard to get this far but all it takes is one kiss from Sin to make want more than just my job. I know it is wrong but just when I think I might have found a normal guy like me a working person the truth comes out crushing me. He is everything I told myself cannot happen and yet Sinclair shows me a side of his family I never knew I wanted until now, family. All my life it has been about getting to the top and a couple days with Sin makes me see what could have been if I wasn’t so into my career. I know it is wrong to love a man who is nothing but trouble yet my heart cannot stop from wanting him.

Of all the Callahans so far that Carrie Aarons has created I am so excited about Sinclair’s story. In the past you see a troubled, trust fund bachelor and carefree man yet inside all that is a man who just wants to be seen for himself. Growing up in the Callahans is tough and boy Sinclair sure has taken it all in through his life making you see that drama and risks come easy with Carrie Aarons. You see her taking a man who has had to grow up with a lot on his shoulders trying to be the perfect Callahan and working to be the man he is destined to be with the love of a good woman like Frankie. Now Frankie is perfect for Sinclair showing him that life is not about money but more of loving someone with their trueself. Just like Sinclair we see a woman fighting to prove she can do the same stuff a man can do and even better. All in all we finally get to see Sinclair’s story and what really made this bad boy bad. Most of all we see the rest of the Callahans and what they have been up to through this series, loving it.

REVIEW..Mafia King by Rachel Van Dyken
Mafia King: A Mafia Royals Novella by Rachel Van Dyken
126 pages
4 moons

My job was to be her bodyguard and nothing else. Even if I tried anything it would be putting my life on the line literally because Kartini is well Mafia royalty and I am a hired help so to speak. Something has changed in the past year with her and her father is even worried. Gone was the quiet, obedient and shy Mafia Princess and now is a wild woman tempting me in every way. They don’t call me Tank for coincedence and she is about to see I take my job seriously. The thing is that everything I thought about her family is not all true. Now I must decide if Katrini is worth my life and career.

Everywhere I go he is there and it’s annoying. I know my Dad knows something is wrong but I need this time. I need it to figure out what exactly is my purpose in this life. I know my family are not angels more like sinners but in good ways sort of to speak. Yet being with Tank feels refreshing and teasing him is worth playing this cat and mouse game we have going on. Just when I think I have him figured out he does something I never expected. Everybody see’s me as the little princess and I want to be more to him. I may have been born into Mafia Royalty but Tank is going to see there is much more to me than what he thinks. Can I continue this game more or will Tank finally tame me?

Readers this is not your typical bodyguard story but one filled of lies, betrayal and hello the suspense of passion to come. I loved that Rachel Van Dyken brings us more of the Mafia Royals especially the younger generations in Katrini aka Tiny Abandonato. In a way I felt sorry for Katrini, not only living in this family but trying to figure out who she is in this family. Seeing these two together was hot and boy their easy bantering was awesome in many ways. Seeing the whole family again trying to get Katrini back into living to speak it takes a tough man like Tank for the job. Though it was a Novella it is a great addition to this series and still have more of the younger ones coming, cannot wait.

REVIEW..Beneath the Stars by A.L. Jackson
Beneath the Stars: A Friends-to-Lovers Rockstar Romance by A.L Jackson
474 pages
4 moons

I should stay away from her but she is temptation beyond beauty. She has the whole world ahead of her and well me I am just all wrong for her. The thing is no matter how hard I stay away from her my heart keeps coming back to her. There are things about me that nobody knows and I know once my Maggie knows it will scare her away. Everybody tells me I need to move on but even though I am working with the band right now she is always there. There is just something about Maggie that makes me want to be better and yet I am the one that will put her in danger. Problem is even though I’m used to trouble she is innocent and naive in many ways in another words to pure for my dark heart. Can I be strong enough to let her go or will the devil in me ruin her?

They tell me I am young and don’t know what love is about but I know Rhys Manning is everything I need to stay away. My stupid heart for some reason calls to him and I know it’s wrong but I want him. My brother tells me he is all wrong but something about him makes me want to know more of the man that makes him so to speak. I know he is hiding something by the way he looks and kisses me. It is not a kiss of a friend but the kiss of man looking for salvation and peace. I am 21 yet in his eyes it feels I have experienced more than I have in real life and I want more. Being in his arms makes me feel more than just a girl but a real woman yearning for his kisses and the love he keeps hidden from people. As my brother says musicians are bad but my friends says there is no love greater than a musicians who can play with words speaking from their heart like no other normal person. Can I be the woman he needs to help him with his demons and past?

There is just something about A.L. Jackson’s rockstars and their romance stories that will just make you melt. I loved seeing Rhys battling with love and well just being friends with temptation he cannot ignore anymore. Maggie is everything he wants with beauty, love, friendship but scared of getting the goodness in her thinking he is bad for her. Seeing these two is almost like a beautiful balance between good and bad in his head. A.L. Jackson shows us that even a man like Rhys deserves a bit of love even though in his mind he thinks he doesn’t have a chance of it. All in all this was a love you can tell was going to happen but like true A.L. Jackson she takes you through a rollercoaster of obstacles before they can start their true journey of happiness. Loved it.

REVIEW Fool for You by Kelly Elliott

Fool for You (Southern Bride Book 7) by Kelly Elliott
225 pages

five stars

Friendship is important to me and Landon is more than a friend to me. For years he has always been there in a way he is my rock, the one that keeps me balance. Our families have always been intertwined since we were little yet something feels different. I know it is wrong but I am seeing Landon in a new light and it scares me. We have always been Emmie and Landon, perfect in every way but I am afraid of wanting more of him. Everybody see’s us as great friends but what if we were more just for a little bit. I mean it seemed perfect since everybody knows us but somewhere the game has changed. I no longer want to just pretend with him I want to be Mrs. Landon and ready to up the game showing him my real feelings. Can I risk it all?

People call me crazy for being friends with a girl. Problem is Emerson is not just any friend she is THE ONE for me even though the little crazy girl denies it. For years since we were kids I knew she will be mine but she is determined to date bad frogs. Everybody in the family know we belong together except the girl herself. Helping her at this little auction thing seemed like my chance but man what she just came up with is much better especially meaning I get to spend more time with my girl. She is my everything and though she thinks were pretending I am 100% in this charade just have to work harder to convince her how right we have always been. She may think she playing me a fool but she is going to be the foolish one once she sees her Prince Charming has always been right in front of her.

I cannot believe were in book 7 of Kelly Elliott’s Southern Bride series and I want more. The great thing about Kelly Elliott and her series is they can be read as stand alone but really to get that full effect reading in order is awesome as well. I love that she has two friends who have been through everything seeing that once they open their eyes love and happiness is possible. Seeing Emerson and Landon friendship go from well just friends to something magical right in front of their eyes was beautiful. We see two families becoming one but two friends finally seeing their true feelings. These two are great for each other in the way they finish each other’s sentences, know what the other is thinking but what got me is how the other one might feel towards something each of them taking into consideration what the other is feeling. They truly care for one another and though it started as a charade you can tell right away this was no typical game but foreplay so to speak between them.

REVIEW..Let Me Love You by Siobhan Davis

Let Me Love You (All of Me Duet Book 2) by Siobhan Davis

Have you ever read a book where you keeping asking yourself, WHY and reading it twice to see did it really happen? We met Reeve, Vivien and Dylan in the first book by Siobhan Davis and in one word WOW. I thought the first part blew me away but here’s the thing about Siobhan she has a lot of tricks in her imaginative mind and this one just proves it. Reeve is her everything and yet Dylan is somehow back in the picture making her ask, WHY. When it comes to love there is no easy way to just make a decision because well in life nothing is easy especially love. Reeve showed her that and Dylan in a way is making her see that there is more to love there is also passion. She knows happiness doesn’t come easy and right now there is something looming in her life making her wonder how long happiness can stay. Dylan is not easily swayed and when it comes to Vivien he is determined to get everything that seemed lost at first back in his life. Filled with passion, lies, betrayal there is no easy reading when it comes to Siobhan Davis books, Let Me Love You proves that making it a great ending to a beautiful duet. Loved it.

REVIEW..The Rebel by Kendall Ryan
The Rebel (Looking to Score Book 1) by Kendall Ryan
362 pages
4 moons

All Eden wanted was one night with future NHL player, Alex Braun but fate has something in store for her. Seeing back she knew that one night with Holt will haunt her. He was the only one who actually friended her that night and gave her a glimpse of what if. Years later she still thinks of him but right now is hard to feel anything except business towards him. As head owner of a big time NHL team her goal is to keep her players safe even if it means sacrificing her happiness. Just when she thinks she can handle it her past comes back and boy is he sexier than ever. It is hard for her to think of him as anything but professional when the passion is still there. Can she just be friends with him and move on?

One thing Holt knows is when you get a second chance you don’t just pass it up. Seeing Eden again after all these years feels like well kismet. One night was not enough for him but she only had eyes for Alex Braun, Mr. Popular at the time. Working with her as new head owner of the hockey team means she made her dreams come true and he has no place now in her life. The thing is that he wants more of her than just a job, he wants the dreams and fantasies to come true. Everybody knows the players don’t take her serious but he is determined to see she is safe at all costs. She may have gotten Mr. Popular but he is determined to make her see what she really needs is the Rebel to make her love again.

It is always great to see what Kendall Ryan has in store and her new Looking to Score series just proves that sports her jam. I loved that Eden is a girl who knows what she wants and boy this is one time she should just let go and be impulsive. Holt is everything she needs to make her see that though she has kissed one bad toad Prince Charming does exist. The chemistry between them just got hotter than ever after all these years it is still there. This is the first book in this series and though Alex is not my favorite am curious to see what Kendall Ryan does with him. Cannot wait for more of Looking to Score.
