So many readers asked for more stories in my bestselling Hard Ink series, and I’m so excited to be able to give you just that in my new, super sexy HARD TO SERVE! HARD TO SERVE is an edgy stand-alone love story about a Baltimore police detective whose red-hot BDSM relationship with a new submissive seems like the perfect distraction from a trumped-up investigation against him until he learns that the woman is his boss’s daughter. Talk about sparks flying! I had so much fun writing this book, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it! And if you enjoy it, you might like to check out the whole Hard Ink series, now complete! Happy reading!

Kyler pressed a kiss to Mia’s forehead. “You can trust me to take care of you.” Sitting back, his gaze swept down her face, enjoying the pleased expression she wore. From the promise of his words or the kiss? He laid his hand against her sternum and slowly slid his palm upward until his thumb and fingers separated around the base of her throat. He applied just the slightest amount of pressure there.

She sucked in a breath, and that one reaction surged blood into his cock. Mia squirmed, rocketing his arousal even further.

“Be still,” he gritted out.

She froze, her eyes on his.

“How important is the breath play to you?” Her eyes dilated, her expression read as needy, and her breathing quickened. Her obvious excitement went a long way toward answering the question. And these reaction were exactly what he loved about it. But did she need it?

“I don’t have to have it, but…” She looked down, her eyelashes fanning out against her skin.

“Look at me and finish that sentence,” he said, his voice full of grit. Because against his fingers, her pulse was flying.

“But it probably excites me more than anything else, and it gets me off faster than anything else,” she said, her cheeks turning beautifully pink.

“Does it now?” Not that he really needed to ask. His grip tightened, just a little.

“Yes, Sir,” she whispered, her voice breathy, full of desire.

“Say my name,” he said, wanting to hear it with all that arousal coloring her tone.

“Yes, Master Kyler.”

Fucking hell.

In a quick move, he slid his hand up her back and fisted her ponytail, tugging her head backward and her whole body closer. Hand still gripping her throat, he shifted them so that she was almost reclining, allowing him to look down into her face.

And he thought her pulse had been flying before.

“You like to be choked?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Choked to the point of not being able to breathe?”

“Yes, Sir.”

His grip tightened. “Gagged?”

“Yes. Sir,” she added, as if she’d momentarily forgotten protocol.

Jesus Christ, his cock was like fucking steel. “Asphyxiated to the point of passing out?” he asked, his gut twisting.

“I’ve never done that. The idea of it…” He nailed her with a stare, allowing her the time to gather the words the little furrow in her brow said she was looking for. “It both excites me and scares me, but I’m not sure which more.”

“Thank you for the honesty. I won’t go that far, Mia. I won’t put plastic over your head and I won’t duct tape your mouth. I also won’t use any bondage position that hangs you primarily by the throat or neck. If any of those are things you need, I won’t be able to give them to you,” he said, hoping like hell she didn’t need them. Occasionally, he had a moment of discomfort—maybe even cognitive dissonance—about the fact that he was both a cop and a Dom who got off on bondage and submission and spanking and even role-playing scenarios that flirted with non-consent. Because he’d seen the trauma real abuse caused. But what he did was safe, sane, and consensual, and he drew the line where any of those three might be compromised, which in his opinion included the edgier breath play.

A fast shake of her head. “No. I don’t want any of that. I just want—” Her eyes went wide.

“What, little one?” Satisfaction at her answer mixed with curiosity about what she’d not said. He needed to know.

Her throat worked under his hand in a hard swallow. “You.”

1001 Dark Nights: Hard to Serve by Laura Kaye

1001 Dark Nights: Hard to Serve by Laura Kaye

Being a detective is all Kyler Vance knows what to do. Yet ever since he got hurt at a funeral he is manning the desk. Everybody in his family was a cop and being idle is not something he looks forward to be doing the rest of his life. The only place where he is in control is Club Blasphemy, the one place where he can let the beast out. Nobody knows this side of him and he wants to remain it like that so far. Problem is that even Blasphemy is turning out to be something that is making him ansty. It has been years since he has been with a good submissive and so far none of the women he has seen has captured his attention until Mia Breslin enters. Here is a woman who doesn`t talk back, disobey, agrees to whatever he says and might just be the woman to end his career as well. Being with Mia he is starting to feel something he hasn`t felt in a long time. Can he show Mia that he can be the Dom to her Submissive in and out Blashpemy?

Men are easy to find for Mia but men who can make her come with a command or a chokehold is hard to find. She always knew her kinky side will overcome her stable life and it is time. Everybody that is into BDSM knows the place to go is Club Blasphemy where anything goes. Meeting Master Kyler though is not what she expected for he scares and excites her in a way no man has done before. His touch caresses her in a way that makes her hot and his voice seduces her in a way that she can come just by his voice. He is everything she is looking for but she is just a submissivie nothing more which is painful. Mia knows that a relationship with Master Kyler is not in the cards but then again Blasphempy is not your usual BDSM hangout.

In one word of Hard to Serve by Laura Kaye is HOT. If there is one author who can make getting spanked or being tied up hotter than ever it is Laura Kaye. I loved that Mia is a confident, passionate woman who knows what she wants and that is Master Kyler. Even reading about him and boy his actions was making this reader hot as well. The chemistry between them is a no holes barred relationship where anything goes and boy does anything go. Laura Kaye created this couple in a way that can either break or make them stronger making them make the ultimate choice in their lives, surrender. As a Master Dominant Vance Kyler is going to have to fight for the one thing he hasn`t been able to find as a Dom and that is a submissive to complete him in every way. Cannot wait to see what else happens in Club Blasphemy for this is one club where anything can happen even breaking the rules.

We waited years to be together and now this is my chance. The thing is my dream has always been to go to Stanford in their medical program. I know Skye is the one for me and no one else but the distance is what scares me. She is my everything and the more were with each other I cannot imagine a life without her. Skye has always wanted to run her father`s business and know if it comes down to make a choice I dread the answer. My love for her is stronger than ever but there are times with Skye that I question. Jealousy has never been my thing yet when I was with Jasmine my heart always belonged to her. Yet everything changes when Roland, her brothers breaks the code. Now I am sick of what this will do to us. Can I be with her after everything that happened and be the man she needs?

I cannot stay away from her. It has been months since I have been with another woman none compare to what I have with Trinity. Yet the possibility of her being with another man tears me apart. I know when I made this arrangement it was supposed to be just about sex but somehow she got to my heart. I told my dad love is not in the cards for me but then again I cannot imagine Trinity not in my life. She see`s a part of me nobody sees and it scares the shit out of me. Sex is all I am good at yet if being a boyfriend to her makes her happy I am determined to show her there is more than just sex to me. My dad asked me if I was in love with Trinity kind of hard to answer yet I know deep down I cannot say nothing else. Can a man with tattoos all over who has had so many women finally settle with a girl like Trinity?

Omg so much drama, betrayal, suspense yes suspense in book 3 was making me go topsy turvy. I loved that Slade finally manned up well in some ways about his feelings towards Trinity. The sex between them is hot but Cayson and Skye wow talk about passion between them. I loved that we finally see a strong connection between them yet kind of hoping for more of Trinity and Slade. In so many ways we see Cayson and Skye settle and seeing the new adventure Slade is going through was exciting. Cannot wait to see what is in store with Book 4 between these four and the others in the family. All in all it is so much fun seeing everybody in the first series and this one come together. Loving it.

Sleeping with her still feels like a dream to me. I finally have Skye Preston all to myself yet I feel our bubble of happiness will burst any minute. The douchebag is still lurking and I know he is waiting. I want to prove to Skye I want more than just sex but every day with her is getting harder to wait. I have seen what sex can do and want more than that from my Skye. When I see her and hold her hand she is more than someone I am sleeping with she is my future wife, mother of my children and always my best friend. Hard to explain it but she is my everything.

Love is hard especially when it is my best friend but Cayson is everything to me. For years I never knew he was in love with me and now everything has changed. I have had men before and they only want one thing from me but with Cayson it is more than just sex. We haven`t done it yet but know he is being patient with me after the fiasco with the douchebag. Can we still be where we are after we finally do the deed or will it ruin us forever?

I love my best friends but man all the lovey dovey is too much. My cousins belong together but lately seeing all the love is getting to me. I cannot in my life imagine being shackled to the same girl every night just not right. Yet they are happy and that is what matters in every way. Sex is hot and I am determined to never let someone change me. The feeling of making a girl come is hot especially when that woman is Trinity and we go bareback in a way I have never experienced before in my life. Now it seems that having sex with just random girls is dull which only gets exciting when I am with Trinity. I don`t know what is for we are enemies through and through but a night with her changes everything in a way I see her as more than just the enemy but hottest fuck buddy ever. It`s all this lovey dovey stuff going for no way is a girl going to change me to be a one girl kind of a man no way.

Love definitely has a way of changing people and loving how it is turning out in this series is exciting. We have Cayson and Skye who at this point is on the next step of their new relationship but still afraid of going further. Then we have the biggest manwhore Slade in the family feeling more than frustrated towards Trinity which scares him. I loved that Slade seems all about sex yet when it comes to Trinity she just blows his mind. Friends, enemies, lovers something these four people never imagined going through in their lives. Can their love and the love of their parents with guidance show them that if they have faith anything is possible?

She is my best friend. We have always been together ever since we were little kids. College should be different a time for us to have ouar own adventure. Yet no matter how many girls I have been with all I want is Skye Preston. When I see her I don`t see the sexy girl with a great rack or bootylicious ass no instead I see a beautiful, smart and enchanting girl I have always loved. The thing is that right now she is with a douche bad of epic proportions and I am tired of waiting. I know Skye belongs to me but my friends well cousins are right she will never look at me that way. Everybody tells me to move on and forget about her but she is my one and in some ways soul mate. Can I just keep on going like I am right now living a foolish dream? Will I ever get the love and happiness I see in my parents one day?

This is one giddy and excited reader after reading the start of a series I am already loving. E.L. Todd has made me happy seeing what has happened with Sean, Scarlet, Cortland basically everybody in the first series Forever and Always series. This is the continuation of their kids and boy it is like seeing them all over again in a way that made me cry. We have Cayson who has always loved his best friend but is afraid of changing their friendship. Ring a bell yep but so much better. I loved that even though Skye is afraid she is ready to get all the happiness she deserves yet we see doubt and fear. The romance between them is sweet and adorable in so many ways. Stay tuned for this is not just about a family that has grown but a bond of love nobody expected. So many twists and turns already in this series stay tuned.

About Profited:

One night. Let go. Be free.

Even at an early age, Reid Hunter’s future was already planned out. Though he was groomed to become successor of the family business, he quickly discovered his destiny wasn’t through his family’s legacy, but to build his own empire. His plan: takeover Vegas, one building at a time. Known as a hard, no-nonsense man, inside the boardroom and out, Reid isn’t prepared when he comes face to face with a woman from his past. The only one with the ability to make him question everything he stands for.

Raising a child is hard. Raising a child as a young, single mother is downright difficult. Yet Dani Whitley has managed to put herself through college, purchase her own home, and raise the unexpected, but greatly adored son she created while in college, after one night with a gorgeous stranger. Knowing nothing but his first name, Dani has managed to push all thought of Reid out of her mind until one day, nine years later, she is forced to face the man himself. Ruthless and callous, Reid Hunter is nothing like the young man she met at that music festival all those years ago. Yet Dani is still drawn to him, more than she was before.

Sin. Money. Success. Profits. That’s the foundation of Las Vegas. But what happens when one day you realize that it’s not enough? When the greatest thing you could profit is bigger and better than money: love.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“So, you’re a teacher?” my date asks while chewing a mouthful of sloppy Chicken Parmesan.

“Yes,” I confirm for the second time tonight, all the while moving my baked halibut around on my plate in an effort to hide the fact that I haven’t eaten more than a few bites. Greg’s open trap of tumbling food is enough to turn my stomach and dissolve any appetite I had when I walked into this restaurant.

“That’s pretty cool. I bet you’re a great teacher. I mean I would have loved to get you as my teacher back in the day. I never had a hot teacher,” he mumbles while chewing. Chew. Chew. Chew. I swallow the bile that’s threatening to make an appearance when his bushy eyebrows wiggle like some sort of caterpillar walking across his forehead.

I hate my sister. It’s official. I have the worst sister in the world. I don’t know what I ever did to Trysta to make her hate me enough to subject me to this kind of torture. “Go on a blind date,” she said. “It’ll be fun,” she said. “Greg’s so adorable; like a puppy,” yada yada yada. Apparently my sister is mean and blind. And don’t get me started on her lack of hearing, because if she really had to sit in the same room with this guy while he ate, there’s no way in hell she ever would have set me up with this clown.

“So, what do you do at The Mirage?” Please let him say pit boss. Please!

“I’m a custodial engineer,” he says while shoveling a heaping pile of steamed broccoli into his face.

“Custodial engineer?” I ask more to myself than to him. I have a pretty good idea where this is going.

“Yeah. I clean the restrooms, mop the floors, and pick up after the rich gamblers. But I’m not a maid,” he informs me sternly. “No, I don’t clean the rooms. I do more of the general grounds of the casinos. I’ve been there for six years now, and have worked my way up to the blackjack room. Someday, I hope to hit it big and get the High Roller Room. But, the guy that cleans that room now is really good and has been there for like twenty years. Your sister is one of everyone’s favorite cocktail waitresses in the High Roller Room. Nice girl; big boobs like yours.”

“Wow, that’s…yeah.”

“Have I told you that I have a teacher fantasy?” Greg asks, a few pieces of cheesy noodles flying from his pie hole.

“Excuse me?” I ask, praying to God that this conversation isn’t about to turn in the direction I’m fearing.

Greg leans forward enough so that his blue and green polka dotted tie featuring two animated dinosaurs on the front dips into his plate of cheese sauce. “Oh, yeah. Hot teacher asks me to return after class. When I walk in, she’s got her long ruler in her hand and uses it on my -”

“That’s nice and all, but it’s getting late,” I say with a little more force than I intend.

“Oh. But we’re still eating the main entrée. We haven’t even gotten to dessert yet,” he says with an insinuating smile while wagging those caterpillar-like eyebrows again.

“Yeah, well, it’s getting late and I have class tomorrow,” I reply while depositing my cloth napkin down on the tabletop. Greg doesn’t realize that it’s Friday and I don’t actually have class tomorrow. If he asks, though, I’m pleading Saturday detention duty.

Greg stands up when I do and walks around to my side of the table. A drop of the sauce is sitting on his chin like a big neon sign. Like a zit, my eyes are glued to that little dripping of food. In fact, I’m staring so long that it takes me a second to realize that the drop of goo is moving towards me. I snap out of my trance just in time to divert my lips away from Greg’s. He places a wet kiss that reminds me of a dog, on my cheek.

“Are you sure you have to go home now? I thought maybe we could go back to my place tonight. My mom is out at Bridge Club so she won’t be home for at least another hour. Plenty of time to drive home and get disciplined by a hot teacher,” he says, baring his coffee stained teeth. And that’s the moment my stomach actually rolls and I fear I’m going to blow chow all over the front of his dull white shirt, elementary neck tie, and wrinkled khakis; all in front of Vegas’ middle class at a mom and pop Italian restaurant.

“Oh,” I start with a laugh. “I don’t think so, Greg. It was really nice to meet you,” I lie while digging out a handful of bills from my pocketbook. I drop just enough to cover my portion of the bill and a tip. Let Mr. Can’t Chew With His Mouth Closed pay for his own meal.

“It was really nice to meet you, Dena,” he says.

“It’s Dani, actually,” I mumble while grabbing my wrap from the back of the chair and whipping it over the shoulders of my navy blue dress.

“Dani? Are you sure? I could have sworn your sister said your name was Dena.”

“Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s Dani,” I reply, voice dripping with sarcasm, before turning and walking away. I don’t stop. I keep walking straight out of the restaurant, even though Greg is still talking behind me. I don’t stop until I’m sliding into the driver’s seat of my 6-year-old Toyota Camry. My hands are still shaking as I slip the key into the ignition and start the car. I’m definitely ready to go home and drown in a bottle of wine and a bubble bath.

The Van Heusen Hotel was the love of Merina Van Heusen’s life. The historical building dominated the corner of Rush and East Chicago Avenue, regal and beautiful, a living work of art.
Her parents’ hotel had once been the Bell Terrace, home away from home to celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn, Sammy Davis Jr., and more recently, Lady Gaga and the late Robin Williams. The original structure perished in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, only to be resurrected bigger, better, and more beautiful.
There was a life lesson in there.
Latte in hand, Merina breathed in the air in the lobby, a mix of vanilla and cinnamon. Faint but reminiscent of the famed dessert invented in the hotel’s kitchen: the snicker- doodle. On her way past Arnold, who stood checking a guest into the hotel, she snagged one of the fresh-baked cookies off a plate and winked at him
The dark-skinned older man slid her a smile and winked back. Having practically grown up here, the VH was a second home to her. Arnold had started out as a bellman and had worked here for as long she could remember. He was as good as family.
She dumped her purse in her office and finished her cookie, holding on to the latte while she meandered down the hallways, checking to make sure there were no trays outside the doors that needed collecting. At the end of the corridor on the first floor, she saw a man outside one of the rooms, drill whirring away.
“Excuse me,” she called. Then had to call again to be heard over the sound. When she came into view, he paused the drilling and looked up at her.
He wore a tool belt and navy uniform, and the antique doorknob was sitting on the floor at his feet along with a small pile of sawdust.
“What are you doing?” she asked, bending to pick up the heavy brass. Her parents had done away with “real keys” the moment they took over, installing the popular keycard entry hotels now used, but the antique doorknobs remained.
“Installing the fingerprint entry.” From his pocket, the uniformed man pulled out a small silver pad with a black opening, then went back to drilling.
“No, no, no.” She placed the doorknob back on the ground and dusted her hand on her skirt. “We’re not doing any fingerprint entry.” She offered a patient smile. “You need to double-check your work order.”
He gave her a confused look. “Ma’am?” He was looking at Merina, but his voice was raised.
Merina’s mother, Jolie, appeared from behind the hotel room door, her eyebrows raising into hair that used to be the same honeyed shade of blond as Merina’s but now was more blond to hide the gray.
“Oh, Merina!” Her mother smiled, but her expression looked a little pained.
“Can you give me a minute with my daughter, Gary?” Like she was Gary’s mother, Jolie fished a five-dollar bill from her pocket and pressed it into his palm. “Go to the restaurant and have Sharon make you a caramel macchiato. You won’t be sorry.”
Gary frowned but took the cash. Merina shook her head as he walked away.
“Sweetheart.” Jolie offered another smile. A tight- lipped one meaning there was bad news. Like when Merina’s cat, Sherwood, had been hit by a car and Jolie had to break it to her. “Come in. Sit.” She popped open the door and Merina entered the guest room.
White duvets and molded woodwork, modern flat-screen televisions and artwork. Red, gold, and deep orange accents added to the richness of the palette and were meant to show that a fire may have taken down the original building but couldn’t keep it down.
Jolie gestured to the chair by the desk. Merina refused to sit.
“Mom. What’s going on?”
On the end of a sigh that didn’t make Merina feel any better, her mother spoke.
“Several changes have been ordered for the Van Heusen in order to modernize it. Fingerprint entry is just one of them. Also, the elevators will be replaced.”
“Why?” Merina pictured the gold decorative doors with a Phoenix, the mythical bird that arose from the ashes of its predecessor, emblazoned on them. If there was a beating heart in the Van Heusen, it was that symbol. Her stomach turned.
Instead of answering, Jolie continued. “Then there’s the carpeting. The tapestry design won’t fit in with the new scheme. And probably the molding and ceiling medallions will all be replaced.” She sighed again. “It’s a new era.”
“When did you take to day-drinking?” Merina asked, only half kidding.
Her mother laughed, but it was brief and faded almost instantly. She touched Merina’s arm gently. “Sweetheart. We were going to tell you, but we wanted to make sure there really was no going back. I didn’t expect the lock- smith to arrive today.” Her eyes strayed to the door.
Merina’s patience fizzled. “Tell me what?”
“Your father and I sold the Van Heusen to Alexander Crane six months ago. At the time, he had no plans on making any changes at all, but now that he’s retiring, the hotel has fallen to his oldest son. Evidently, Reese had different ideas.”
At that pronouncement, Jolie’s normally sunny attitude clouded over. Merina knew the Cranes. The Crane Hotel was the biggest corporate hotel outfit in the city, the second biggest in the nation. Alexander (better known as “Big Crane”) and his sons ran it, local celebrities of sorts. She’d also read about Big Crane’s retirement and Reese’s likely ascension to CEO.
But none of that mattered. There was only one newly learned fact bouncing around in her brain. “You sold the Van Heusen?”
She needed that chair after all. She sank into it, mind blanking of everything except for one name: Reese Crane.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Merina stood up again. She couldn’t sit. She could not remain still while this was happening. Correction: This had happened. “Why didn’t you talk to me first?”
“You know we’d never include you in our financial difficulties, Merina.” Jolie clucked her tongue.
Financial difficulties?
“Bankruptcy was not an option,” her mom said. “Plus, selling gave us the best of both worlds. No financial responsibility and we keep our jobs.”
“With Reese Crane as your boss!” Her mind spun after she said it aloud. My God. They would be answering to that arrogant, idiotic . . . “No.” Merina shook her head as she strode past her mother. “This is a mistake.”
And there had to be a way to undo it.

Exclusive Excerpt:

LURED BY THE pulse of sex and anonymity, Amanda Jenner moved through the dusky bar, brushing against silk, satin, cotton, and flesh, each graze feeding the adrenaline coursing through her veins. Blue lights misted over sweaty strangers lost in the seductive bump and grind of foreplay and hoping for a night of erotic pleasure. If Amanda tried hard enough, she could smell tomorrow’s scent du jour—regret. Tonight she had no room for the confidence-crushing worry of what tomorrow would bring. She scanned the crowd, as she had in the previous three bars, immediately dismissing anyone who wasn’t in costume. Her world was full of boring men who excelled at wining, dining, and boring her to sleep. Ten years of romance novels and movies had led her astray, looking for the elusive needle in a haystack. She’d led herself astray, always the careful thinker, careful dresser. Or as her younger sister, Ally, would say, Careful kisser, careful lover. Ally, however, had taken charge of her sex life—and she’d found the perfect man.

Now it’s my turn.

Royce Walker loves his job and with his skills as a used to be FBI Agent he always get the job done until he meets Lauren. Here is a woman who fights back and gives no signs of a damsel in distress basically his kind of a woman. The thing is though she can fight her own problems the possesive side of him wants to keep her safe no matter what. Royce has never felt like this before but Lauren is turning out to be more than a job. He knows once his real identity is revealed she will hate him but it will be worth it just to get one more kiss from her. Can he protect Lauren before her case gets more wild?

The first in the Walker Security is starting to be a hit for me by Lisa Renee Jones. I loved that this wasn`t just about Royce but we see a part of him he doesn`t show a lot to people. The attraction he has for Lauren is not the usual kind but one that shows him marking what is his. I loved that no matter how protective he is Lauren doesn`t easily succumb to him and Royce has to fight to keep her in his life. Lisa Renee Jones doesn`t disappoint and it shows the way she brings out these two together that through suspense love can overcome anything.
